Bhakoot Dosha Cancellation

In the customary Ashtkoot Guna matching / Horoscope matching (36 points) system, the Bhakoot matching is the 2^nd most important Koot and carries a total weightage of 7 points i.e. 20%. While matching it takes counting from birth Moon sign of the Boy to the birth Moon sign of the Girl and Vice Versa. In this method 1 & 1, 1 & 7, 2 & 12, 3 & 11, 4 & 10, 5 & 9 and 6 & 8 combinations are possible. Of these 1 & 1, 1 & 7, 3 & 11 and 4 & 10 combinations are considered as Auspicious whereas 2 & 12, 5 & 9 and 6 & 8 are considered as Dushta or Bad bhakoots.

When the Moon signs/rashis of the bride and groom are in the combination of 2 & 12, 5 & 9 or 6 & 8 from each other, the Bhakoot score given is 0 (zero) out of 7 points, which forms the Bhakoot Dosha. On the other hand, when the respective Moon sign/rashi dispositions is 1 & 1, 1 & 7, 3 & 11 or 4 & 10, then full 7 (seven) points are given during Guna Milan considering there is no dosha.

Thus, so arrived combinations of 2 & 12 (Dwitiya Dwadash Bhakoot), 6 & 8 (Shadashtak Bhakoot) and 5 & 9 (Navpancham Bhakoot) are treated as Bad or Dushta bhakoots. Therefore, in such cases, NO marks would be obtained out of total Seven marks assigned to this category of ashtkoot guna matching.

But this method does NOT consider following Exceptions to this rule viz.:

• In case of Capricorn & Aquarius moon signs though combination comes to 2 & 12 but both have same sign lord “Saturn”, thus No compatibility issue.
• In case of Aries & Scorpio moon signs though the combination comes to 6 & 8, but both have same sign lord “Mars”, therefore No compatibility issue.
• In case of Taurus & Libra Moon signs though the combination comes to 6 & 8, but since sign lord of both is “Venus”, thus NO compatibility issue.

Therefore, when both the Moon sign (Rashi) lords of the would-be bride and groom have the same ruler planet, the Bhakoot dosha gets cancelled. Further if the Moon sign lords of both boy & Girl are Friendly with each other then also bhakoot dosha diminishes. These aspects are not judged in Ashtkoot match.
