Who is Mangalik

According to Vedic astrology, when Mars is deposited in any of the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th & 12th Houses in the Birth Chart, the Native is termed as mangalik. There is a total of 12 (Twelve) houses in a horoscope or birth chart or kundali and 7 natural planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus & Saturn) and 2 shadow planets (Rahu & Ketu). From this it is evident that Mars deposited or placed in any one of the Five houses out of the total Twelve houses of a birth chart, makes the native Mangalik. Therefore, according to this interpretation, 41.67% of the total human population becomes Mangalik. Some Astrologers also treat placement of Mars in 2nd House as Mangalik. Thus 50% of the total population may be treated as Mangalik. In fact, this should not be treated in general as a Mangalik Dosha.

Mars is a Fiery Masculine red Planet of Energy, Initiation, Power and Dominance, Courage, Confidence & controls Passion, Determination, Drive and commands the native to stand up & get things done. It makes the native Sincere, Courageous, Dependent, Straightforward, Enterprising with Perseverance, argumentative, short-tempered, Logical and Impulsive. It is also personified as the God of War, lovers of weapons, guns and explosives etc.
